A normal post? Wow...

Today I am a normal guy posting on "whatsup" in my world...

I have been sick all week (last week) and feel pretty normal again now aside from being tired. We are preparing to retile the foyer and completely remodel the main bathroom. I will do the Foyer this week and next weekend, and probably get started on the bathroom in 2 weeks. We ordered a tub last weekend, and really need that to get started. We found great deals on everything at Menards. We bought our new counter at home depot, which was a returned item and got it for about 75% off or so. The same for the top, which is a pretty nice synth top with a built in sink. We just need to get a toilet. I am tiling the floor and tub myself, which will be the biggest effort. I will be putting new drywall up as well, which will also be one of the harder jobs of course. In all, I expect it to take about 8-10 weekends to complete, but we are hoping for faster if things go well (do they ever?). Everything is getting replaced, switches, lights, doors, the window, the woodwork, toilet, everything. We have been bargain shopping for supplys for a while now, and finally have just about everything to get going. So, for relatively little, it should be a very big payoff in home value.

Next will be the little bathroom (maybe next year), followed by a make-over of the kitchen. That will entail a tiled countertop (good looks for low cost), new homemade doors for the cabinets (yeah, that will be hard), synth-wood floor (cheap, but pretty), new tile back-splash, new wood-work. and new lighting in the kitchen area. This will be hard (especially the cabinets) but worth the while.

I DO NOT envy you. I think I have a love/hate relationship with home projects. As it is, I don't spend enough time doing fun things with my family (or without for that matter). So the thought of having to dedicate many months to an ongoing task sounds pretty sucky.

Unfortunately, our new house is going to need a good deal of painting (most of the upstairs and the kitchen downstairs as well), an arched opening/doorway sealed up between two of the bedrooms, and some minor things here and there as well. Ugh.

I do enjoy seeing the improvements and the satisfaction of having done them myself though. The same goes with working on/improving my car.

Hate it/ love it too.
