Go Colts!
Well, it has FINALLY happened. What? Well, actually several things. First, the Colts have finally made it to the Superbowl in Indy. I believe I was 14 when they made the migration, and was officially a fan then. I was never a very big fan of football in general until I was older, but over the last 10 years or so, it has only increased in fervor.
Secondly, this is the first time ANY of my teams have made it to their respective big games. Purdue football and basketball have never made it, the Cubs haven't been in a bazillion years, and the Pacers have never made it either.
Third, Manning finally gets to go to the big game. I am pleased as it has been painful watching him be so great, and not make it.
So, to conclude: the game has not been won yet, so I can't exactly make any of these claims as making it to the big game and winning the big game is two separate things. Well, at least they "made it", so lets see if I can get the made it part and win it part in the same year, otherwise I will be still in the same boat, just using "win the big game" instead of make it.
To keep boring you, I would just like to say that the Cubs have bolstered their roster this year, and are gearing up for a run. Purdue Football is a largely returning team next year (that is a long shot still of course), and Purdue basketball is decent this year, and has had some awesome recruiting of late. Next years Frosh class will be one of the top ranked in the nation, so I have very high hopes for the future. The Pacers? Honestly I don't really care that much about the NBA, although I will pay attention to the finals if the Pacers or other team I like is in it. I have been a pretty hard-core Packers fan since moving to WI, but they haven't done much since then. I adopted the Saints this year with Drew Brees going there (Purdue QB) and with the K recovery and all. Too bad they didn't make it.
Although I have fair-weather fanned on a few football teams over the years, namely the Redskins and Bears, this will be the first SB that I really watch with passion. Go Colts!
